Candy Corn Plant – Flowering plants

Candy Corn Plant is a beautiful, vigorous climber. It has thread-like stems, fleshy green ovate leaves and the unusual, hairy, tubular flowers are reddish-orange with yellow tips, which make the flowers resemble candy corn. The flowers are nearly 2.5 cm long and arise from the leaf axils on short stalks. Blooming from summer through fall. It is ideal for a hanging basket.

Scientific Name: Manettia inflata
Common Names: Candy Corn Plant

How to grow and maintain Candy Corn Plant:

Light:
It grows well in bright light to full sun. Moving your candy corn Plant outdoors for the spring and summer will give it the sunlight it needs to flower.

Soil:
It grows best in a rich, organic, well-drained, any good potting mix.

Water:
Water your plant regularly during the growing season and always keep the soil evenly moist but never allow your plant to sit in water. You can allow the top 1 inch of soil to dry out between each watering. During the winter months, water sparingly.

Temperature:
It prefers an average room temperature of 65°F – 75°F / 18°C – 24°C.

Fertilizer:
Fertilize every two weeks spring through fall with a high-potassium fertilizer diluted by half.

Pruning:
Cut the stems back by half in spring, when new growth begins. Be careful not to remove flower buds. Pruning will promote new growth and keep it in shape. Use sharp pruners to avoid tearing the stems.

Propagation:
It can be easily propagated by stem tip cuttings. Take non-blooming stem tip cuttings in spring or early summer and root in moist soil.
